As a local real estate broker in Melvindale, I've seen firsthand the thriving business landscape of our city. Over the last four months alone, I've proudly helped establish more than 10 businesses in Melvindale, Michigan. Today, another venture stands on the precipice of realisation - Melvindale’s first-ever Halal pizza restaurant; it's an endeavour that is deeply personal to me and resonates with a majority of our community.

Despite nearly 70% of Melvindale’s population identifying as Muslim, none of the city's existing pizza places offer Halal options or operate within hours that cater to our community's needs. The City Council's recent vote to deny this business principle, citing already existing pizza places, overlooks the fact that our city thrives in diversity and inclusiveness - a trait that makes us truly unique.

This isn't just about a restaurant. It's about honouring and respecting our city's majority, amplifying their needs, and fostering an environment where businesses can prosper without unnecessary limitations. We urge the Melvindale City Council to reconsider, and approve the proposed Halal pizza restaurant, mending the gap in dietary-friendly options and championing diversity.
