April 14, 2022: Supervisors in Calhoun County voted Thursday to opt out of Mississippi’s medical marijuana program. The Board voted 4-1. This means the sale of medical marijuana is prohibited in the county. However, cities can choose for themselves. If a county or town wishes to opt out, they must do so by May 3. 

This all falls back to Feb. 2 when Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves signed the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Act, immediately making medical marijuana legal. (via WTVA) 

5 random men, none of whom are medical professionals, should get to decide whether or not the whole county of thousands of Calhoun County, MS residents can partake in medical cannabis, a legal medication in our state as of February, 2022. 

We have been stuck in the past for way too long. Medical cannabis would not only bring NATURAL MEDICINE to many people suffering from numerous ailments, it would bring in huge amounts of tax dollars. It could help fix the atrocious roads that have been ignored for decades, help our law enforcement, fire department, etc. It could bring new residents to our area and help revive a crumbling economy. 

Please sign and help us to overturn this terrible decision by the Calhoun County Board of Supervisors, and also help convince our respective towns/cities to OPT IN to medical cannabis!
