As of 2018, the population of the senior citizens is 3.6 million. But there are only 3 million senior citizens who receive their pension meanwhile the other 600 thousand does not receive any pension.

In result of this, indigent senior citizens cannot afford their needs. As stated in thw current law, an amount of 500 PHP is given to the indigent senior citizens. However, it is not enough. This is why Universal Social Pension is being proposed. The said bill will give 1,500 PHP to the senior citizens monthly. Once approved, all senior citizens will benefit not only the indigents.

This law will be a big help to the elderly once it is implemented. We can all help the senior citizens receive their pension and enable them to have additional allowance for their daily expenses.
