Appreciation for the strong Anti-Encroachment Drive and a strong urge to continue the same
The Issue
To,
Shri Amitesh Kumar
Commissioner of Police
Pune
Respected Sir,
We sincerely thank you for the strongest Anti Encroachment Drive witnessed by Pune Camp in many many years. We thank you, not just on our behalf, but also on behalf of residents as well as our customers.
For quite some time now, hawkers have been growing as if we are living in a complete state of lawlessness. They feel no fear of administration or of any strong action against them. Time and again, we, PCMA, have urged authorities for a strong and stringent action. We are grateful to the administration for their strong action against encroachers.
We wish to list a few of the nuisances caused by these illegal and unlawful encroachers and wish to reiterate that the current anti encroachment drive is going to go a long way in addressing these issues and HENCE URGE YOU TO CONTINUE IT WITH SAME INTENCITY & VIGOUR.
List of Problems caused by illegal hawkers, etc –
1. Obstruction of Pedestrian’s Footpath.
2. Obstruction of Roads as well as Parking Space and thus creating bottlenecks for traffic. (Traffic Department fines 4-wheelers who are double parked but turns a blind eye to a hawker who is blocking the exact same width of the road right next to the car)
3. Littering of all areas surrounding their place of illegal business.
4. Illegal, unauthorised and unsafe use of gas cylinders, etc causing fire and health hazards.
5. Unhygienic and unlicensed food vending without any concerns for health and sanitation could pose health hazards.
6. They are aggressive and violent, and we are sure this has come to attention of local Police Station by many an incidence from time to time.
7. They often use foul and abusive language which would make any respectable persons highly uncomfortable.
8. Hawkers crowding around bank could enable some unlawful elements to take advantage of the crowd and do something undesirable.
9. A separate market (Fashion Street) was created for the hawkers more than 2 decades ago. Why does administration allow them to illegally flourish in NO HAWKING ZONES?
10. We traders pay GST, Income Tax, Property Tax, etc. This gives revenue to our government. Isn’t it the duty of administration to protect it’s taxpayers from illegal encroachers who pay Zero Taxes?
Sir, we once again THANK YOU & STRONGLY URGE YOU TO CONTINUE THIS STRONG DRIVE AGAINST ENCROACHERS.
