The Issue

Indian football has struggled for years with inconsistent youth development and long-term planning. Many fans believe that experienced football administrators with a strong record of developing players should be given a greater role in shaping the future of the game.

Ranjit Bajaj has been a strong voice for Indian football and has consistently spoken about improving youth development and raising standards. This petition requests the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to consider appointing Ranjit Bajaj as the Head of Youth Football Development in India so he can contribute his experience to strengthening grassroots and youth football.

Why Indian Football Needs Urgent Reform

Football is the world's most popular sport, with more than 5 billion fans globally, yet India—a nation of over 1.4 billion people—continues to struggle on the international stage. Despite our enormous population and passionate football fans, India has failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, and our football ecosystem continues to fall behind many smaller nations.

The problem is not a lack of talent. The real issues are poor grassroots development, inadequate infrastructure, inconsistent long-term planning, weak youth pathways, and ineffective football administration. Thousands of talented young players across India never get the opportunity to develop because they lack quality coaching, proper facilities, competitive leagues, and financial support.

India currently ranks far below the world's top footballing nations in the FIFA Men's World Rankings. Countries with much smaller populations and fewer resources have built successful football systems through investment in youth development, coaching, scouting, and transparent governance.

We urge the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and all relevant stakeholders to:

Invest significantly in grassroots football across every state.
Build and maintain quality football infrastructure and training facilities.
Improve coach education and youth academies.
Create a transparent, merit-based talent identification system.
Strengthen school and college football competitions.
Develop a clear long-term roadmap for Indian football instead of short-term decisions.
Ensure greater accountability and transparency in football administration.
Indian football fans deserve hope. Our young players deserve opportunities. With proper planning and commitment, India has the potential to become a respected football nation.

If you believe Indian football deserves a brighter future, please sign this petition and share it with others. Together, our voices can push for the reforms Indian football desperately needs.
