I am writing this petition out of a deep concern for the need for progress and change within our county and state party cultures. Our existing party culture feels stagnant, resisting the much needed evolution that we believe would bring beneficial change to our communities. We see a beacon of hope in Corinne Straight, a dynamic force who has been actively engaged in local and state politics, driving us into the future with accountability and equity as her cornerstone principles.

Corinne has been instrumental in keeping elected officials on both sides of the aisle accountable for their actions, behavior, and legislation - a refreshing and much needed change in the political landscape in Indiana. Her dedication to the principles of fairness and equality are commendable, and we believe her appointment as Deputy Chair for the Elkhart County Democratic Party Chair is not only logical but essential for moving our county and state forward.

Chad Crabtree, as the Elkhart County Democratic Party chair, we call upon you to appoint Corinne Straight to the position of Deputy Chair for the county. This is a crucial move that can redefine our party culture and drive us toward a more promising future under the principles of accountability and equity. We need activists and public facing ambassadors for our parties to engage new members, volunteers, and voters. We must stop with the status quo.
