The Taos Public Library is a critical resource for our community in Taos, NM. It provides access to information, educational resources, and community programs that enrich our lives. However, it has been operating without a qualified director for some time now. This lack of leadership is affecting the quality of services and programs offered by the library.

The American Library Association recommends that public libraries be led by directors with professional degrees in library science or equivalent education and experience (American Library Association). A qualified director can bring innovative ideas, improve services, secure funding and partnerships, and advocate effectively for the library at local government levels.

We believe that appointing a qualified director will significantly enhance the value of our public library to our community. We urge the relevant authorities to prioritize this appointment as soon as possible.
