We as parents and students should have the right to choose to send our kids back to school or keep them fully virtual learning. But the administration is deciding that for us. On August 12th, the district decided that we would start the school year fully virtual, when the entire summer we were told over and over that we as parents and parents would have the choice. The school board has become complacent with the district by giving the district total control over the learning model. The school board has also done zero research on kids in school settings during the pandemic. We as parents and students have done said research. With the mitigation plan already in place the chance of spread is low and our kids are failing. 

In an effort to silence us the district has recently released a new virtual+ plan. This would allow ONLY children who are failing or trying to learn the english language into the schools. Yet our elementary children are stuck learning how to read and write at home. This is discrimination at its highest level. It would also allow hands-on courses to schedule times to complete work, i.e. welding and shop class. They state that they can use these groups as data points to see if the mitigation strategies work. However, they have had groups of kids in the schools since September in YMCA and Boys and Girls Club programs. They have also allowed teachers children to be in the classroom. This is discriminatory at its highest level Why weren't they looking at data already among these groups already in the school?

We are tired of being silenced. It is time we stand up for what's right. It is time to give us choice!

We demand that the school board retake the power of learning model choosing, and give us the choice to return!!!
