The Issue

Yik Yak was popular back in 2013, but was then banned on April 28, 2017 due to over 80,000 people signing a petition to get rid of the app due to extreme cyber-bullying. Students in every single school district and on every single college campus were negatively affected by this app. There were multiple kids in my grade that were told to kill themselves on this app, and this is from my small school! People on the app have the capability to say anything about anyone that they want anonymously, which is why all of this bullying is happening. For some reason, all of the App Stores have allowed this app to come back for a second round of evil. WE SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS. The time has come for every parent, teacher, youth helper, pastor, and etc to take a stand on this evil app. Our youth and our children are dealing with so much already, especially in the aftermath of the Covid-19 closures, the last thing they need is to be bullied by a coward behind a screen. This app breaks schools and ruins communities. By getting rid of it, we lessen the chance of bullying and increase the chance of coming back together as schools and societies. Let's get rid of this app one more time, but this time, let's get rid of it forever.
