On Windows, Android and macOS (OS X) devices users have the option to set a default web browser, map/navigation app, email or calendar app etc., and have the system recognize and respect this default.

In fact Microsoft have been required because of their dominance in the operating system space to provide the user these choices, and respect their wishes.

Apple, with their iOS based devices, hold a market leading position as the dominant premium device (#2 best selling with iPhone devices, #1 for tablets with the iPad) yet offer no such choice and, in fact, with releases of the operating system since iOS 8 have been active in blocking work-arounds users have identified.

The only recourse is for users to "jail break" their devices - a risky proposition which can cause software to stop working or void their warranty - all in the name of being able to make choices for what applications suit their needs best.

I would respectfully request that Apple voluntarily allows users to be able to make their own select - using apps that are delivered through the App Store so have been vetted for quality and security - for these key functions.
