The Apple “Clown Emoji” started as a simple emoticon for people to use sparingly. When created back in 2016 for Unicode 9.0, the public saw it as another silly emoji, and it wasn’t used too often. Now, the emoji is overbearingly used throughout the internet. Most prominently, it circulates the app “Tik Tok.” When people use the emoji, it is to represent someone being foolish or offensive. However, the emoticon has been morphed into an overused way to point out a flaw. While it might have been amusing at first, it has become just annoying at this point. I request that the emoji be eradicated from the emoji keyboard, so that the internet can enjoy a comment section without being pestered by a “Clown Emoji” that would appear to be there for no reason.
