Apple: Please Save Final Cut Pro 7 and enhance it - FCP X Will not Work

The Issue

Video / Film editors are being thrown into the abyss after years and years of patience and loyalty to Apple and its flagship editing product Final Cut Pro. Never, has a company with so many financial resources, with so many options, with such a loyal fan-base taken such drastic steps to simply sweep aside a strong supporting community like what we're seeing Apple do. I am asking Apple to save the current features in Final Cut Pro 7 and build on its current state and incorporate new features and release it in the near future to give editing pros who've built careers, made major investments a sign that they are not being abandoned.

Final Cut pro X is not a professional tool. So why force a one size fits all - when it simply doesn't work? If production houses, professional editors and pro-sumers have used FCP 7 for their means to make a living, what sense would it make for a company to simply turn its back on that community? Where's the loyalty? This is a profitable product ... where's the logic to simply abandon that overwhelming community support? Final Cut Pro X, is simply inadequate to serve professionals and the various technical needs they have ... PERIOD.

Keep Final Cut pro X as the new and improved iMovie editing software, and keep the existing Final Cut pro 7 and build on it. There would then be two awesome programs ... one for consumers and the hobbyist and one for the professional editing community who've made major investments supporting the evolution of the pro-application. The professional editing community would be willing to wait a little longer for Apple to make the long awaited improvements.

Come on Apple, Please support us like we have supported you.

If Steve Jobs can admit that Apple dropped the ball regarding Mobile Me, certainly he can do the same regarding Final Cut Pro. Careers and livelihoods are depending on Apple to do the right thing.
