End the Use of Forced Uighur Labor

The Issue

As of July 2020 the Chinese Government has imprisoned around 1 to 1.8 million Uyghurs, Kazakhs, and other Turkic Muslim minorities in forced labor camps and so called re-education camps. This is the largest mass incarceration of an ethnic and/or religious minority since World War II. These human rights abuses started in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, but have expanded across China. More than 80,000 Uyghurs have been transported across China to provide forced labor to factories, many of which manufacture goods for the more than 83 companies mentioned in this petition.
This July, 72 Uyghur Rights Groups partnered with over a hundred different labor and civil society groups to demand that clothing brands and retailers: (1) stop purchasing/sourcing raw materials such as cotton and textiles, as well as finished products from Xianjiang; (2) cut ties with companies implicated in forced labor (those with operations in Xianjiang and have taken government subsidies/government labor); (3) ban suppliers located outside of Xianjiang from using forced labor and cutting ties with those that do. See full list of demands here: https://enduyghurforcedlabour.org/news/402-2/
By signing this petition you are pressuring not only clothing companies, but all corporations (including tech and car companies) to meet activists demands, as well as to agree not to source additional raw materials (such as oil, gas, and minerals) from Xianjiang; as well as to conduct robust investigations into their suppliers throughout China to ensure that none are using forced Uhygur and Turkic Muslim Labor, and to cut ties with any suppliers that do. Lastly, these companies need to agree to stop manufacturing or sourcing goods manufactured in China, if (a) they are unable to ensure that there is no forced Uyghur or Turkic Muslim labor in their supply chains, and/or (b) the Chinese Government does not end the practice of using forced Uyghur or Turkic Muslim Labor.
