For quite some time, my entire friend group and I have felt disrespected by the makers of emojis, for we feel that the entire lgbtq+ community needs a plague doctor emoji. You see, The plague doctor is a major symbol amongst the lgbt community, as it represents resiliency and hope in a time of crisis. The plague doctor has gained a lot of popularity in pop culture, and has a bigger, more deep meaning to many people. Especially now, in a time of global panic and the Covid-19 Pandemic, we think it seems only fair that we have a emoji to represent this. We feel quite strongly that this emoji should be around to brighten the spirits of everyone who is in social isolation at the moment. If this emoji is created, people across the world will be joyful as their favourite character finally has an emoji.
During my personal struggle with depression, my friends would send me photos and memes of plague doctors, and it almost instantly made me laugh and brought a smile to my face. I want to be able to share the positivity and hope of the plague doctor with others and brighten their day with a simple emoji, for I know that all my friends are smiling as they think of a plague doctor emoji.
