This is a petition to request that Native American emojis be created and added to the current keyboard available to all mobile users.

We American Indians only make up 1.6% of the population of the United States. Everyday we see less of ourselves in popular culture. We get thrown into the “other” ethnicity categories on paperwork forms. We are nothing more than statistical data to most people. Our voices get lost amid the millions of others, and we begin to feel like nothing more than a footnote in history. We would like to be able to express ourselves as a living, thriving people with icons that represent our unique and beautiful culture, just as others have access to currently.

This is a petition to request emojis such as feathers, dreamcatchers, burning sage, arrowheads, medicine wheels, tribal drums, tomahawks, and items like these for us to use, and have represent us, in these modern and tumultuous times.

Please do not let us (over 570 federally recognized tribes) fade into obscurity, hidden forever in the glass cases of museums. We are a living people! Please help keep positive Native imagery in the public eye by signing and sharing this petition!
