We are four generations of Americans deeply committed to peace, with deep family roots and land ownership in Beit Anan. As loyal U.S. citizens whose families have lived in the United States since the early 20th century, with ancestors who proudly served as US veterans dating back to World War 1, we remain dedicated to our heritage and our community.
We believe in building a future rooted in peaceful coexistence, side by side with all our neighbors regardless of their religion or ethnic background. Our goal is to invest in, cultivate, and sustainably develop our lands to foster stability and local opportunity, not conflict. However, persistent harassment, land encroachment, and settler violence make basic farming and positive investment nearly impossible currently.
As American citizens deeply connected to Beit Anan, we urge our government to uphold basic human rights, protect private property, and safeguard the livelihoods of our family members living there.
The Core Issue:
Our ancestral historic village of Beit Anan in the West Bank is facing an urgent crisis. For generations, local families have relied on their surrounding agricultural lands of olive groves, seasonal crops, and traditional farms as their economic and daily lifeline.
Today, that lifeline is under threat. Escalating settler outposts, settler violence, crop destruction, land seizures, and restricted access are pushing our local farmers off property that has belonged to our families for generations. We are especially concerned for the safety of our farmers during the upcoming critical olive harvest season. Many of these farmers are extended members of our families, farming properties that are owned by or tied to U.S. citizens who hold legal titles to the land.
Why This Matters:
Our extended families in Beit Anan rely on their surrounding agricultural lands as both their economic backbone and daily lifeline. Ongoing illegal settler activity is inflicting severe, measurable hardships on our extended families and their community. Protecting Beit Anan’s farmland is about far more than safeguarding property; it is a matter of basic human dignity, community survival, and the rule of law.
Our Call to Action:
We respectfully urge the U.S. Embassy and diplomatic officials to take the following immediate actions:
- Conduct a Consular Visit: Send U.S. officials to Beit Anan to assess conditions on the ground and document instances of harassment and land seizure.
- Use U.S. Leverage to Intervene with Authorities: Urge Israeli civilian and military leadership to curb settler violence, protect Palestinian farmers, and restore full access to agricultural lands.
- Protect American-Owned Property: Monitor and formally challenge any confiscations impacting U.S. citizens and their families.
