Washington and Lee High School in Montross has been in in abhorrent condition for over 30 years. To put it simply, this school is unsafe. From asbestos to mold, the school is quite literally a toxic space. It is cramped and falling apart. Recently, the budget for the dream-worthy replacement school was cut by nearly $11 million. As a former student of W&L and a member of the community, I can not stand for this gross neglect for safety. The county has focused on cleaning up by building a new courthouse, but it has ignored the preventative measures a high school would bring.
