I'm sure as you all know the COVID-19 pandemic has extremely interfered with normal day to day life, but also very special events, such as Weddings. Given the recent COVID-19 pandemic and shelter in place mandates across the United States, many couples are being forced to postpone or cancel their weddings indefinitely. In fact, the CDC has officially recommended the cancellation of weddings in the United States for eight weeks, or until mid-May. Most Wedding Venues and Vendors don't offer refunds for any payments made for contractual services. However, given these unprecedented times with many couples being forced to cancel or postpone their wedding, it is not ethical for vendors and venues to capitalize on such misfortune of human beings. As many brides already know, postponements only mean left-over dates that aren't ideal for weddings (i.e. mid-summer, mid-winter, Sundays or weekdays), and the added inconvenience of having to find new vendors, as most are already booked out for the year. Wedding Venues & Vendors, (who have not provided any service thus far), should offer refunds in addition to postponements for couples whose original wedding date was not able to happen due to COVID-19. If venues and vendors offer refunds, couples will be more likely to give them good reviews and recommend their services to others. If couples get refunds, their big day can be less stressful in the midst of getting hitched during a pandemic; additionally, this relieves a HUGE financial burden that can help boost a struggling economy. This petition is, in no way, intended to impact "fairly earned revenue" of wedding venues & vendors; but simply to bring justice for those who have been taken advantage of. Please help me in getting financial justice for many couples whose Wedding has not or will not be able to occur as planned due to COVID-19.
