Put 'Rent' Back On Broadway

Put 'Rent' Back On Broadway
The Issue
It's been over 25 years since the 90's phenomenon 'RENT' premiered. Jonathan Larson's genius has touched many souls with his masterpiece and his lyrics. To the person with HIV or AIDS who is looking for their place in life, to the closeted kid struggling to make sense of their gender or sexuality, all the way to the outcast who observes as it all goes down.
It's been 13 years since the show closed on The Great White Way. We've had to deal with an off-Broadway revival that was COMPLETELY different to the original, a Live event that wasn't that live, and a movie adaptation that has left a lot of us divided on how we feel about it. Today, most teens don't know about the show. They don't learn about the HIV and AIDS crisis.
We propose a suggestion. We propose that we have a proper Broadway revival to RENT. No changes. No overthinking. The late Jonathan Larson's genius was perfect on its own. It sparked a Broadway revolution between people fighting the AIDS battle and teens finding their voice. It was one of the most controversial thing of 1997, and that's why it's so timeless. We had accurate portrayals of gay couples, the gender-fluid, and the ups and downs of the seasons of love.
Teens today will be able to experience what happened back then and apply some of the themes to today's world. We still don't have full equality in a lot of areas and loopholes. RENT gave them a voice. Hopefully, it will create a new voice in today's youth. No day but today.
Thank you, Jonathan Larson.
