A worldwide ban on slaughtering of wildlife for human consumption

A worldwide ban on slaughtering of wildlife for human consumption
Why this petition matters

The recent COVID-19 virus has originated in the Chinese practice of slaughtering wildlife for human consumption, although many other countries also do so.
This current pandemic has already killed tens of thousands and infected nearly a million people. Measures to counter it have triggered the largest economic depression in decades. All this originating from a single animal slaughtered in a wet market in Central China. These wet markets have recently re-opened.
The present petition is to ensure a UN resolution is presented and voted upon in the security council, to the effect that all activities linked with hunting, slaughtering, cooking and selling wildlife for human consumption should cease forthwith. In particular, all wet markets where this practice continues should be closed. Severe penalties should apply to all those who engage in this business, whether it's hunting, collecting, slaughtering, cooking or selling wildlife for human consumption. This should be subject to international inspections by WHO.
The petition is addressed to Antonio Guterres, the current secretary-general of the United Nations, asking him to expedite the above resolution.
