Anti Social Behaviour and the challenges we face

The Issue

ASB is having a dramatic effect on thousands of people's lives (including my own) and whilst help is available through your local authority, this is such a long winded process and often can cause sleepless nights, additional stress and at times, suicidal thoughts. My own personal experience with the Police is that some officers seem to genuinely want to help, whilst others just keep telling me 'that this isn't a Police matter, and to take it up with my local council ASB team'. This can be unhelpful and make you feel like you have no where to turn for help - especially when this asb can involve things such as: loud music, rowdy behaviour, drug and alcohol abuse, threats, intimidation and as I have unfortunately been witness too, underage sex. In my own town in the North East, my local authority (South Tyneside Council) made the difficult decision back in 2020 to terminate the vital service that included Community Wardens. These wardens were essential in helping to alleviate ongoing problems, and genuinely I would love to see the service returned back to South Tyneside, to help deal with this high level of ASB.  Unfortunately and sadly, I can't see this change occuring, due to the cuts that's happening all around. My proposal is that - it's about time a reform of these community wardens took place, and even if it involved a subscription service as such (for example £4.99 a month for those on benefits and £9.99 for those working, and more importantly, need their sleep!) How would people feel about this? Whilst I appreciate things are incredibly difficult for the majority of people at the moment in terms of Finance - one of the only other ways to help get this asb under control is to have better built properties that actually include sound proofing, and not so called 'egg cartons' in between properties, separating neighbours. I think things are only going to get worse if this isn't acted upon sooner rather than later, as it's becoming a major problem in many different locations, and as I've read, has even caused some people to sadly commit suicide.
