Our issue is that our creative courses are being rendered obsolete by the use of gen ai rising (which is also destroying our enviroment) GEN AI should NOT be supported regardless right now either with the disgusting atrocities being committed with it currently.

Our biggest issue is that a majority of our higher up faculty are both unaware of our distain and have “their heads in the sand”. They sit idly by as our futures and our jobs are stolen through means that are out of our control while we are forced through this change.

“I think its worth everyone being educated on the differences between what is already used and accepted in the industry vs ‘ai’. Tools like auto riggers/auto betweening on maya/retopology software is not ‘ai’ its not even LLMs. That talking point is actively used by people who want to desensitise you to ai use as an attempt to make you think you're already using it.” 

And as for our DSA students who aren't getting the help they need and deserve or could be getting better help and may rely on things provided by the uni that use ai to help:

”I totally empathise with all of you that have DSAs and feel that it can help support you, but we have to be completely against any use of AI. Any time something like this is pushed it is ALWAYS an exercise in how they can cut costs. You should not be having to rely on a shit piece of software for that support, a team of people paid for by the uni should be supporting you.“

This is precisely what is holding us back from change. We are desensitised, we are constantly being thrown GEN AI in our faces and we are suffering the consequences forever. Why have creative courses if you are going to actively work against them? Why support this? Why not become educated instead of sitting idly by while the students who PAY to be here are being punished by this serious issue?

“Even if it weren't for threatening our jobs, gen ai is shortening our lives. We cannot survive if we keep using gen ai bc it will destroy any resources we need from the planet.”

“Fuck generative ai literally taking our future careers from us on the smaller level in the uni. But algorithmic ai and ai used in a good way like specifically to assist complex tasks such as those in the medical field and things that hinders human processes is well and good. But not gen ai.“

“However to make our point come across, we must be anti ai. There is no need for any use of ai in our creative courses. There never was and never will be. Fuck chat GPT. Fuck Gen AI. Fuck AI. We need to make a stand. AI however you use it is still destroying our environment whether we like it or not. If to be used for good (minus gen ai), it must be sustainable. It must not destroy us and the environment and our courses, not just creative. AI is to aid, not to take and do what we should do as humans.”.
