Animals & Humans Need Rights!

Animals & Humans Need Rights!
The Issue
No student should be forced between having to choose between receiving points toward a grade & having to violate their moral beliefs in not supporting products linked to Animal Testing/Cruelty and products that include lines which are processed & contribute to obesity, disease, & a decline in our health & the health of our children.
One local university marketing professor has done just this…..forced a Raw Vegan student to choose to participate in the project or not receive the points, declining to offer an alternative due to the conflicting moral issue & belief system of the student.
Please sign the petition which will be presented to the professor for reconsideration & escalated if need be. Contact has also been made to the company to encourage them to offer eco-friendly & no test products on their line (update to follow).
Here is the story:
The professor is asking students to collect Box Tops for Education and turn them in for points toward their grade. Here is the website which includes the products & brands that you would collect take the points off of: http://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/clip/Brands.aspx)
Brands such as S.C Johnson & Kimberly Clark are named on the list both corporations do animal testing.
At the end of the semester students earns points for turning them in to the professor & in turn get submitted for funds for the school system. I applaud the part of the professor attempting to raise money for the public schools, I don’t agree with the approach.
I have chosen a Raw Vegan lifestyle & of course part of this is to not support animal testing, use/consumption of animal products, and further more the support of products that contain harmful & questionable ingredients. I emailed the professor and advised of my beliefs and lifestyle, I offered alternatives such as volunteering my time to raise money, helping in a fund raisers to benefits the local public schools, or accepting an alternative that does not violate my beliefs and allows me to participate in receiving the points.
Even if you’re not vegan, wouldn’t you want your beliefs to be respected if they are reasonable and you are willing to put forth the effort to get the mission done (in this case raising money for education)? This is a small step to allow those to practice their reasonable beliefs. No student should be forced between having to choose between receiving points toward a grade & having to violate their moral beliefs in not supporting products linked to Animal Testing/Cruelty and products that include lines which are processed & contribute to obesity, disease, & a decline in our health & the health of our children.
