This petition is is to bring about awareness to the unfair practice of installing cameras at traffic lights to catch minor traffic violations. The reason behind installing these cameras was intentionally good but the data doesn't present enough evidence to prove these cameras actually save lives. This act has only proven to make money for the city officials and local government while the traffic violators are stuck with an expensive bill that seemingly comes out of nowhere. The cameras only make matters worse for most drivers while saving almost no lives at all. In conclusion, these cameras don't do anything but fill the pockets of city leaders and force normal, tax paying citizens to pay an expensive citation that damages the household budget. Furthermore these cameras serve as a money making scheme to pay for other things the city needs that will not even benefit residents. If the city is trying to raise money for whatever it is they are funding, what makes you think the average working class citizen can afford to pay these ridiculous citations? Enough is Enough!
