The ongoing corona pandemic is a global crisis and a threat to humanity on several levels. Only by means of joint, consistent action by the world community we will be able to prevent the worst. Various research institutions and companies such as Moderna, Inovio Pharmaceuticals, John Hopkins University, and the US National Institutes of Health are already working on a sorely needed vaccine.

National solo efforts such as the recent request by the US President to buy CureVac endanger a joint solidarity-based approach by the international community.

There is no alternative to world-wide cooperation (among professionals) if we want to gain back control over this situation! Therefore, we demand that the US government ensure that researchers have unrestricted access to all data compiled and knowledge gained on the new SARS-CoV-2 virus in both past and future! Appropriate measures to achieve this would include the purchase and immediate publication of research findings and creating improved financial support for research.
This action would lead to a significant acceleration in vaccine development and may save hundreds of thousands of lives!
