A referendum in Greater Manchester on whether the CAZ should be scrapped.

The Issue

The Clean Air Zone in Greater Manchester will adversely effect thousands of small businesses who cannot afford to upgrade their vehicles to Euro6. This will also include thousands of people who use a van or a camper everyday as their own personal transport. The area covered is far too big, the funding for people to replace vehicles is far too little and the process of claiming a grant is far too complicated. This Zone amounts to a tax on the people of Greater Manchester who unanimously voted against a congestion charge in 2008. We the people do not want to have this forced upon us in a way that will cripple local businesses and we ask for a referendum on the matter.
