Andrew Yang’s presidential campaign has paved the way forward for nationwide support of a Universal Basic Income that can make a difference in the lives of all Americans. It has definitely made a difference in my life. 

My mom had cancer….HAD…She just got the all clear from her doctor again. She became ill in August of 2016, just a few months after my dad’s passing to glioblastoma. After many weeks, we found out her illness was cancer. Multiple myeloma. I knew immediately that I was going to make mom’s battle and recovery my own.

Mom was not prepared for all of this, as most Americans are not. Too many of us are overworked, underpaid, underinsured, underappreciated by the companies we work for, and undervalued by our own government, and we don’t have the time or the money to prepare for any emergency—let alone one that is life-threatening.

With just one of us receiving a Universal Basic Income, we've been able to turn things around for both of us. I can’t imagine if we both got one, the improvements we could make. If everyone in my small town got it – the cash that would flow through our city's small businesses, the opportunities that it would create.

Mike Broiher is a Pro UBI candidate running for United States Senate in Kentucky. Mike is not a politician or a career candidate for office. He is a farmer and a veteran who sees the value and need for a UBI in his state.

Mike understands why main street stores are not reopening. The factory jobs are not coming back. Coal is not coming back. But he also sees that there are opportunities that lie ahead for the people of Kentucky. Not only is Mike a great advocate for UBI, he is also the strongest candidate to defeat Mitch McConnell, a much needed victory to ever pass a policy like UBI.

Defeating Mitch McConnell with a pro-UBI candidate would send a loud and clear message to Americans that the UBI movement is strong and ready to lift millions of Americans out of poverty and a mindset of scarcity. I am one of the few in this country that can tell you firsthand how a Universal Basic Income can both help you survive through the hard times and help you thrive through the good times!

That is why I am endorsing Mike Broihier for the United States Senate. I lived a life with UBI and I want everyone to feel the support and relief it brings, not just for 12 months, but for a lifetime. I encourage all members of the UBI movement to endorse Mike as well, especially Andrew Yang and his new Humanity Forward movement.  

Mike defeating Mitch for the senate seat would open the door for others that support UBI to become vocal, run for office, WIN, and soon deliver what we have all been fighting for. In addition to my endorsement, I have created a petition for other supporters of the Humanity First ideals to join me in calling on Humanity Forward to endorse Mike.
