Effective January 1, 2020, criminals will be free to go. This creates serious safety concerns for our law abiding citizens and victims of crimes.

Not only will criminals be free to go (with free Mets tickets courtesy of the NYC mayor), but they will also have access to victim and witness contact information.

Crimes included in this new law includes only some of the following: Burglary, robbery, the sale of narcotics, stalking, vehicular assault, criminally negligent homicide, manslaughter, arson, harassment, aggravated assault on a person under the age of 11 and so much more.

It is imperative that New Yorkers become more aware of these facts because this law is taking effect. Imagine you are on your way home from work and are violently assaulted from some stranger. In 2020 this stranger will not be spending their time in jail before justice is even served. Imagine that same stranger now knowing who you are and how to contact you?

We must push for real measures that protect crime victims and hold criminals responsible for their actions. This new law goes against all morals. We understand that there needs to be changes in the criminal justice system, but this is not the right kind of change. This change directly puts the innocent public at extreme risk.
