A developer wants to rezone one of LaBelle & Hendry county's most beautiful neighborhoods so he can build 65 "micro cottages" on a 6.64 acre riverfront parcel. Located at 1050 Shady Oak Lane, these "micro cottages" will be 500-600 square feet each on 30' wide lots. The developer has applied to change the parcel from R-1A to PUD (Planned Unit Development). Current zoning of this property is for single family homes at 4 homes per acre, or 28 units. Downgrading the zoning would allow development at a much higher density, which will forever alter the character of this neighborhood.

This development will potentially add an additional 130 vehicles traveling Shady Oak Lane and Live Oak Lane. This would make these very narrow scenic roads unsafe for children on bikes, dog walkers, joggers, baby strollers & the many pedestrians who enjoy their peaceful walks.

Join us in saying NO to the irresponsible development of the project named Sandy Oaks and it's 65 "tiny houses". By signing this petition you are asking the LaBelle City Council to reject the zoning change that would allow this development to be built in this long established, single family neighborhood. An irresponsible zoning change can happen in any neighborhood if this downgrade passes, putting kids & pedestrians in danger, altering the character of your neighborhood forever.
