Why this petition matters

Started by cole gervais

As Gen Z, we go through a lot of ups and downs at a crazy young age. School is demanding. At Andover High School, as of right now, school and the elections have been the main cause of the mental toll we have all been experiencing. We all feel as though our needs aren’t currently being met. Especially as minorities, many of us are afraid to step out of our house due to the tension we are facing with others, and on top of that, we are worried about getting our assignments done by 11:59 PM all while our world is going through a social crisis and reeking so much havoc. Teachers do their best, but we feel that the demand is too high. Many of us are invested in the elections and so many emotions are going through our heads. Those of us who have mental disorders, whether it is depression, ADHD, anxiety, etc, are struggling even more. These mental disorders make it hard for us to process the difficult and confusing circumstances we are under. Even more, the fact that many kids have parents who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19, and have parents who are struggling to make ends meet. Also, they are concerned about the elections. School is an escape for many of us but we are not feeling that way. Remote Academy students are lacking social interaction but are also under a higher demand for getting our schoolwork done. Teachers need to be more lenient with late work at a time such as this. All we are asking for is more leniency. More leniency on the demand for cameras to be on all day, more leniency on the demand for getting in homework on time. The time 11:59 PM has a lot more meaning than you may think. Please sign this petition and get the word out, we would like our needs to be met. We are a community, and we need to work together to help achieve a safe and welcoming school environment.
