All employed nurses, except pool nurses ( per diem nurses ) received hazard pay at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital from the dates March 28-June 30th. Pool nurses have been required to participate in the COVID-19 crisis just like every other employee at the job. In fact, pool nurses were the first nurses that were pulled to COVID designated units when most nurses were afraid to work them. Pool nurses have been mandated to work doubles, managed COVID units, forced to worked with new nurses/agency nurses whom were barely trained during shifts, just to accommodate an institution who is not willing to except their pool nurses as equal to their other employees. Pool nurses put their lives on the line. Some of us actually contracting the virus without pay for two weeks or more. Pool nurses demand hazard pay, just like your other employed nurses, who worked during the pandemic to keep Ancora Psychiatric Hospital running properly.
