An Investigation into FedHealth Medical Scheme
The Issue
Hi everyone,
I have been sending emails to member@fedhealth.co.za | authorisations@fedhealth.co.za and they've failed to respond for over 2 months, always saying we are "investigating". And they never actually solve my problems or give me a proper answer.
So I will share my story here, for others to read before signing up for this medical aid.

I needed an emergency procedure and the medical aid would not pay for it because they said I was a member for six months and they needed to investigate if I didn't tell them about underlying health issues:
- I didn't have any previous health issues and my doctor confirmed.
- The waiting period for medical to be active is three (3) months, yet they wouldn't help me although I signed up in June 2020.
After my ordeal with FedHealth Medical Scheme, I posted about it on social media and was contacted by many people who had the same problem - "FedHealth refusing to pay for treatments or procedures, without giving a valid reason." | “FedHealth giving problems when it comes to paying black doctors”.
I believe FedHealth needs to be taken to the medical ombud, they need to improve their customer service and actually give us answers. If you had a similar experience, feel free to share and comment.
