3 hour or more time differences should get priority registration

The Issue

American University is a college in Washington DC that has countless amounts of international students and in the age of COVID-19 students attending AU are spread out around the globe more than ever. American University barred students from being on campus in Fall 2020 and in Spring 2021 they are only offering limited emergency housing to students. This means there is still a large amount of students dealing with time differences up to twelve hours. Students have reported feeling left out of the AU community due to conflicting sleep schedules, homework loads due at odd times, and visa struggles. If international students or students in 3 hour plus time zones are left to register after a group has already gone through registration before them they might get stuck with a class that is in the middle of the night or too early in the morning. Allowing students that have a 3 hour or more time difference the option to register first provides them with certainty that they will be able to have a normal school day like everyone else and not have to attend classes at 4am or 11pm. This petition was created by AUSG Class of 24 Council because we see and know of students who are currently struggling with late and early classes.
