American copyright law has been criticized by many over the years, especially during the Information Age, where "information wants to be free". For this reason, I am suggesting a public policy proposal to reform American copyright systems, which would include the following provisions: 

• All American works published between 1929 and 1963, inclusive, should enter into the public domain by the beginning of next year
• Bringing back the option to let copyright expire after 28 years, if it is not manually renewed
• Banning the use of automated copyright detection systems by Internet platforms, which often flag material without regard to whether they quality under fair use
• Standardizing a system across all platforms whereby users can flag content for copyright infringement and have these claims be subject to manual review by site administrators, who have been specifically vetted for the position of reviewing copyright claims
• Corollary to the above: a program should be implemented by the Department of Education to teach students about American copyright law and fair use
