Students and families across the United States are affected by COVID-19 financially and emotionally.  Many are still tied to their contracts and stuck with their leases, even after moving out and giving back the keys. I and including others are still paying an abandoned unit . The only option was to relet, however, that have been unsuccessful and thus leaving students with a rent of over 800 or more a month. The expenses going towards rent could be used to help students in the time of uncertainty such as for emergency situations and already financial constraints.

It is unfair and unjust that the student housing company takes advantage of students during a time of unprecedented matter. While I and other students understand it is a contract however many of us did not expect an unknown virus to happen. Many students sign a lease before the semester signing it as early November of last year. 

I urged Hilltop, Skyview, The Suites, and many other student housing at Northern Arizona University to void the contract for those who will be not returning to campus and not staying with their lease. Students should be able to get out of their contract more easily and not be forced into still paying after they move out. Additionally, in the future provide flexible leases to all residents. As well as allowing rent uncollectible but not for future collections. 

Lastly, I want to negotiate even though the contract cannot be terminated, significantly reduce the rent OR paying a fair amount to get out of the lease

I hope for everyone to sign the petition for unfair treatment of ACC and its policies. The company heavily takes money and raises rent from students during a crucial time. Please be empathetic and consider signing the petition, in hoping for ACC to listen.
