Amend the Postal Service Act 2000

Amend the Postal Service Act 2000
The Issue
As a UK citizen, I am among many who have been affected by the theft of parcels while in the care of delivery companies such as Hermes, DPD, DHL, FedEx and Yodel. These companies often only compensate for a maximum of 20% of the parcel's value when it goes missing. This is not just unfair; it is theft. Over the past five years, parcel theft has skyrocketed to an all-time high with no effective laws or measures in place to curb this alarming trend.
We are calling on our government to reassess and amend section 83 of the Postal Service Act 2000. The amendment should include holding these delivery companies accountable for any lost or stolen parcels under their care. Furthermore, these firms should be required to maintain responsive and fast-acting customer service teams accessible via phone, live chat and email.
Additionally, we urge our government to prosecute any company found guilty of selling customers' parcels to auction houses across the country – another form of theft that has been overlooked for too long.
By signing this petition you are standing up against corporate negligence and advocating for better consumer protection laws in our country's private postal services sector. Your signature can make a difference; let's ensure that every parcel reaches its rightful owner!
