Amend Laws to Allow Equal Naming Rights for Men and Women

The Issue

This change aims to promote gender equality, respect individual choices, and shatter gendered conventions.

The petition seeks to amend laws to allow equal naming rights for both men and women, making it a choice for both parties to change or retain their names after marriage.

The petition raises several points, including:

1. Women's identities and independence are tied to their names, which change multiple times in their lives (e.g., from Miss to Ms. to Mrs., and from D/O to W/O).

2. Men's names and identities remain unchanged throughout their lives, even after marriage and divorce.

3. Children are often identified by their father's surname, perpetuating the patriarchal naming convention.

4. The current system lacks equality, as women are expected to change their names, while men are not.

Women, for centuries, have been expected to change their name and titles after marriage, echoing the patriarchy that our society has been steeped in for much too long. While some women choose to retain their maiden names, the majority, approximately 80%, still change their names post marriage. The question we are posing herein is – why can’t men adopt the same responsibility? It is high time we shattered this gendered convention and progressed towards an equal society where these decisions do not have to be gender influenced. It's a question of identity, independence, and, most importantly, respect for individual choices. If a woman chooses to keep her birth name, it should be just as acceptable as a man choosing to do the same. Let us strive for more inclusive legislation which considers both the man and woman as equals in terms of surname change after marriage. If we talk about the Teenage of woman we would be use Miss but for Man MR.

After 18 years woman would be use Ms. But for man Remain Same Mr. And after marriage A Miss and Ms become Mrs. But Man Remain same Mr. Not only this

A woman who uses D/O she has to change it W/O but for man Before or after marriage still S/O .

And if devorce happen for man he has nothing to change in document his I'd remains same. But for woman she has to suffer again.

Her identity, her independence always depends on others.

Infact child also indentify by father's surname and Father's name D/O or S/O

In fact in accicent time all the children know by their mother Name and husband known by their wives name for example

Yashoda Nandan

 Deviki Nandan

Anjani putra

Kaushlya putra

Gauri Shankar

Siya Ram

Radha Krishna

Marriage is between two people. It's is run by two people. If she can change her name why not for man.

Where is equality?

Why is it choice?

Why is it not compulsory?

This petition highlights the gender inequality in naming conventions after marriage, emphasizing the need for equal naming rights for both men and women. It argues that the current system perpetuates patriarchy, where women are expected to change their names and identities after marriage, while men retain their names and identities unchanged.
