Amend City Ordinance to Accommodate individuals with disabilities.

Amend City Ordinance to Accommodate individuals with disabilities.
The Issue
I, along with many others, have recently moved into this city and am finding that during disastrous snowstorms, those of us with disabilities and service animals are expected to walk considerable distances to park our vehicles. My fiancé and I, both bearing medical documentation, struggle with these freezing conditions due to our disabilities.
Such expectations are infringing our rights protected under the American Disability Act by the US Constitution. We earnestly call the attention of city officials to this issue. Our challenges during extreme weather conditions call for a change in city ordinance. We are firm believers that our community should be one that is not only accommodating but also welcoming to all, regardless of physical ability.
According to the US Census Bureau, almost 1 in 5 Americans has a disability. As such, the call for this change likely extends beyond my fiancé and me and affects a significant portion of residents in our city.
We urge the city's ordinance to be revised such that adequate and considerate accommodations can be made for disabled individuals and their service animals during snow emergencies. By doing so, our city can take a great leap towards inclusivity while also enforcing the protections intended by the American Disability Act.
Kindly sign this petition to support this necessary change for our community.
