Amend animal behavior laws in congress
Amend animal behavior laws in congress
The Issue
I have dealt with this first hand trying to explain the crucial difference between what it means to be fearful and what it means to be dangerous. Fearful animals act in defense, not malice. They do not intend to harm but react to the perceived threat around them. On the contrary, dangerous animals pose real risks to community safety, acting with aggression without provocation.
For years, I’ve witnessed the torment and misinformation that leads to harmful misconceptions about animals, particularly those deemed 'dangerous' by flawed legal definitions. Fearful animals are given unjust reputations and subsequently suffer consequences they do not deserve. This frustration, backed by relentless determination, fuels my desire to see change at the congressional level.
The current laws are ambiguous and often lead to the unwarranted euthanasia or punishment of animals who are merely victims of torment and fear. We need our lawmakers to recognize the necessity of defining these terms accurately, distinguished by context and circumstance, to ensure appropriate protections for the fearful animals.
By revising these laws with precise language, we can foster an environment where education and understanding replace fear and misconception. We urge Congress to act swiftly to address these discrepancies and bring clarity to animal behavior definitions in our legal system.
Join me in advocating for fair and just treatment of animals. With your support, we can protect those animals who truly need defending and ensure that justice is served with precision and compassion. Take a stand for the voiceless beings who rely on our advocacy.
Please sign this petition and let Congress know that change is both necessary and urgent.
