Amend Adjala-Tosorontio By-law 11-52 Regarding Dangerous Dogs

The Issue

I am a resident of Ontario, deeply affected by the current state of By-law 11-25 in Adjala-Tosorontio. This law, as it stands, allows for unfair and cruel treatment of dogs. It imposes a muzzle order that is not only inhumane but also implemented without proper evaluation or investigation into the dog's behavior. The designation "dangerous" should be reserved for extreme circumstances.

There are no canine professionals involved in these decisions, leading to potential abuse of power by government employees. This lack of due process might lead to many dogs being unjustly labeled as dangerous and subsequently treated with unnecessary harshness.

Our animals deserve laws that protect their rights and ensure their fair treatment. The current by-law does not meet this standard.

We need amendments to By-law 11-52 that will:

  1. Involve canine professionals in decision-making processes about potentially dangerous dogs,
  2. Ensure thorough investigations before any action is taken against a dog or its owner,
  3. Use the "dangerous" designation only when absolutely necessary.
  4. Unconditional right to appeal the decision, as this right is a constitutional right of any Canadian.

This isn't just about our pets; it's about justice and fairness under the law for all creatures who can't speak up for themselves. Please sign this petition to demand amendments to By-law 11-52 in Adjala-Tosorontio.
