STOP VANITY PUBLISHER FROM DAMAGING AUTHORS UNDER AMAZON.COM POLICY

STOP VANITY PUBLISHER FROM DAMAGING AUTHORS UNDER AMAZON.COM POLICY

The Issue

Self-Publishing is fast taking over the publishing world. Many authors are turning down traditional publishing deals with Brick & Mortar publishing houses and opting for self-publishing.

Amazon.com, Kindle Direct Publishing, & CreateSpace policy allows ANYONE (your disgruntled neighbor, your bitter ex-spouse) to send a letter to Amazon making a claim against your Government Library of Congress Copyright of your books. Amazon immediately takes your books down, removes them from sale, stating they don't get involved in disputes.

Brooklyn Hudson is a victim of a cyber-bully and vanity publisher who wrote such a letter and Amazon has refused to allow her to publish her thriller novel, WISHBONE, ever since.

On April 16th, 2012, author, Brooklyn Hudson, woke to her novel, WISHBONE, altered on the Amazon Marketplace.

The copyright of her book which legally read Brooklyn Hudson 2010, suddenly read the name J. Darroll Hall  (see screen shot photo at link above). Her cover was the same, including her name, yet the LOOK INSIDE feature revealed the content of her book had been replaced with smut content. The metatdata (sales statistics and rank) of her book as well as all of her reviews, were now being used for this altered version of her legally copyrighted book.

Upon alerting Amazon, a representative immediately took down the altered version, clearly recognizing the wrongful act. The representative then helped Brooklyn put her book back up in its rightful state. However, on April 18th, 2012, out of revenge for reporting the act, Vanity publisher, J. Darroll Hall of Fantasy Island Book Publishing, sent a letter claiming to hold the rights to Brooklyn's books. Amazon, having witnessed Hall's wrongful act of altering her book, DID NOT protect her, but rather removed her books from sale. She has since learned of twelve other FEMALE ONLY victims of Hall's cyber-bullying. More details can be found here: http://brooklynhudson.blogspot.com/2012/05/what-all-authors-need-to-know-self.html

Please help us to encourage Amazon to recognize Brooklyn Hudson's legal rights to her work.

I am signing this petition to ask Amazon.com, Kindle Direct Publishing, and CreateSpace, to override their policy and recognize the legal rights of Brooklyn Hudson as the sole copyright holder of WISHBONE, by Brooklyn Hudson, as reflected in public record by The Library of Congress; Registration; LCCN: TXu001730561 / 2010-11-30.

I understand that representatives of Amazon.com witnessed Mr. Hall alter the rightful title of WISHBONE by Brooklyn Hudson to "WISHBONE LOLLIPOP CLUB II (A GOOD LICK)" and replace the contents of it's Kindle edition with erotica material, altering her legal copyright registration number to reflect the name J. Darroll Hall, while using her copyrighted book cover and fraudulently using the WISHBONE metadata, sales rank, and reviews. For which a screen shot may be found at: http://brooklynhudson.blogspot.com/2012/05/what-all-authors-need-to-know-self.html

I understand that Amazon, KDP, and CreateSpace have had numerous reports from multiple authors regarding the negative and misleading business practices of J. Darroll Hall, Pamela Brennen-Albacete, and Fantasy Island Book Publishing (FIBP/FIBpub) and request that a thorough investigation be held to cease further damage to additional authors published with Amazon, KDP, and CreateSpace.
