Why this petition matters

Started by Tory Morgan

In 2016 & 2017 Digital Manga (DMI) & June manga produced Kickstarters to print several volumes of Japanese manga in English:

Kimagure Orange Road: had 938 backers who pledged $154,097.  Backers were supposed to get their books and other products December 2016.

Kodomo No Jikan ~ A Child's Time: had 974 backers who pledged $185,725. Backers were supposed to get their books and other products October 2016.

Osamu Tezuka’s Under the Air: had 777 backers who pledged $57,584. Backers were supposed to get their books and other products April 2017.

Wonder 3 Revisited and Even More of Osamu Tezuka’s Works: had 513 backers who pledged $82,137.Backers were supposed to get their books and other products August 2017.

Digital-to-Print Psyche Delico Yaoi Titles: had 587 backers who pledged $66,752. Backers were supposed to get their books and other products May 2017.

All pledges ($546,295) were collected by Digital Manga & June.  However, they have failed to honor their end as most have not gotten their books or other products that they ALREADY PAID FOR. Since then, DMI & June have changed their stories about when or IF backers will ever get their products or refunds. Backers have been waiting TWO to THREE YEARS!

DMI & June have refused to take responsibility by producing the products paid for or giving refunds that were promised. They claim that they do not have the money to produce the products, but continue to license new digital works from Japanese publishers and to reprint out of stock but in demand books. Their excuse for this it that the Kickstarters are "separate" from their publishing!  Instead they have taken to blocking customers from Twitter & Facebook, so that they can no longer demand answers, their money back or when they will get the products owed.

Shopify hosts both the website emanga.com (DMI) and junemanga.com ; which is allowing DMI and June to continue to sell manga, while ignoring their obligation to fulfill the Kickstarters that were already paid for.

Amazon.com has allowed DMI to continue to sell manga on their platform.

This petition is for Shopify to stop hosting both websites and Amazon to ban DMI as a vendor; until DMI & June honor their commitments to backers by filling the orders paid for or refunding in full.
