Don: a Spanish title prefixed to a male for name. We demand that Amador Valley High School remove the use of the Don Mascot and replace it with one that does not uphold a racist value we do not tolerate on our campus. This mascot is not reflective of the diverse and educated study body, and we demand for the removal of its current mascot as well as any connections tied to this racist rhetoric. The Amador Valley Mascot has been a Don for almost 100 years since the school first opened  and it was racist then and it still is now. When Amador first opened it was a predominantly white school and it has been up until recent years. Now, as you can see by the picture of the mascot I have put on this petition, they have made a stereotypical looking Spanish man as their mascot. As you can see this is not ok for a school of inclusivity to have. We need to put an end to this racist mascot.
