Stop the elderly in care homes being cut off from their families.
The Issue
My 94 year old Dad, who has dementia, has been in a care home since before the first lockdown . Dad has been happy and settled in the place that we chose . Despite this , and his lapses in his memory , he misses his family greatly. He gets very sad and lonely as family is everything to him .
We were able to have two visits a week , prior to this new lock down . Now we are only allowed to have one a week . Our Dad is really in decline with his mental health due to limited contact with his children , grandchildren and his wife.
My petition is not just for my Dad to be able to spend more time with his family at his late stage in life. It is not just because he has dementia.
My petition is for all the elderly in care homes , not to be locked in , against their will, with no proper and consistent access to the people who love them and care for them.
The Government has no right to tell us what is best for our parents, wives or husbands.
There is a basic human right that has been ignored by our Government . A right for the elderly to have loving personal human contact from people they also love and care about .
The Government 'dumped ' the elderly back into care homes to get them out of hospitals when Matt Hancock panicked about covid19.
Give the elderly their dignity and choice back. Give their families the right to visit more than a paltry once a week for half an hour .
