To everyone who values the spirit and tradition of prom, this issue is personally significant because it's prom - a milestone event for us as high school students. The current theme selected for the Wake Forest High School prom does not resonate with the majority of students attending this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Let's put into perspective the significance of prom in a student's life. According to Stageoflife.com, roughly 50% of high school students consider prom as a "rite of passage," giving it immense significance in our journey of life. They also found that 67% of teens spend time thinking about prom six months prior, a testament to the importance we place on this event (source: Stageoflife.com 2010 Prom Survey).

Given its importance, the theme of the prom should reflect what we as students care about, aspire to, and deem significant in our collective journey. We propose that the theme for Wake Forest High School prom should be changed to better represent our sentiments and desires as students.
