As a senior class, we collectively decided that our trip should be to the vibrant and culturally rich Puerto Rico. However, the trip was changed to California and we appreciate the time our class officers and sponsors took to choose a destination. We respect California's beauty and attractions, but we believe in the importance of honoring democratic decisions made by us as a group.

Puerto Rico offers an enriching cultural experience with its unique blend of Taino Indian, African and Spanish influences. It also provides educational opportunities with its historical sites like El Morro and San Cristobal forts (National Park Service). Moreover, it is an opportunity for us to understand more about U.S territories.

In contrast, many of us have already visited California and believe that it’s too pricey compared to Puerto Rico, thus reducing the novelty factor associated with a senior trip.

We request that our school administration respects our collective decision and alters the destination back from California to Puerto Rico. This will not only uphold democratic values but also ensure a memorable and enriching experience for all seniors involved.
