Dear All,

Covid -19 has adversely affected almost everyone on this planet Earth and more particularly India due to its socio-economic challenges with a huge marginalised population. The sheer number of contamination and mortality is truly scary. Day by day all of us are losing friends & relations to this dreaded pandemic.

Now the scientists and doctors are continuously warning about the likely aggravation due to the onset of winter. The season, coupled with the pollution from the toxic fumes of the firecrackers burnt during Diwali will be a truly deadly combination. Just for a moment spare a thought for the patients fighting for their lives as well as those who had survived the pandemic but are left with massive organ damages- more particularly that of the lungs. And many of the above groups could be our relatives, friends, acquaintances or simply our countrymen. Let us petition the respective state governments to put a blanket ban on the sale of firecrackers (Rajasthan has already banned the sale of firecrackers this Diwali).

Also let us take a vow not to light a single firecracker this year and motivate the maximum number of people to do the same.
