I feel like it’s very sexist that guys can’t wear earrings but girls can. They say it’s all distracting and what not as if girls don’t wear huge hoops around their earlobes and guys wear simple diamond studs and normal sized hoops. It impacts me because wearing earrings gives me confidence and allows me to express myself in a different way with different types of earrings that are wearable. I feel that other boys should be allowed to as well. It doesn’t hurt nobody or effect anybody that boys wear earrings. We spend money to get them in our ears just to not even be able to wear earrings and risking the chances of them closing up. I feel like the state of Texas or even just the local school districts should reconsider and rethink about this dress code that don’t allow males to wear this accessory. If nothing doesn’t change, I’m still wearing my earrings everyday. The same assistant principal can just keep taking them and I’ll keep wearing them because they literally don’t effect ANYBODY. I’m Christian too so wearing a cross earring on my ear also genuinely means something, so it’s also religious. If people can wear covers for religious reasons at school then we can wear earrings for that same reason too ; if it’s a religious thing to wear earrings. Nonetheless for style or religion. It should be allowed for boys.
