The issue

As frequent patrons of Wasabi Figtree, we are deeply disheartened by the news that this beloved family-owned restaurant, which has been a vibrant part of Figtree Grove in Wollongong, NSW for 16 years, is being told they have to leave the shopping centre without even any discussion. Over the years, Wasabi Figtree has become more than just a place to enjoy delicious sushi—it has become a cornerstone of our community. Just look at the comments on this petition if you need some more proof!

Wasabi Figtree has created an environment that makes everyone feel welcome. Their dedication to quality and service is unmatched, and their commitment to our community is evident in every interaction.

Losing Wasabi Figtree would mean losing a piece of our community. Without this gem, the shopping centre would lose a unique aspect that draws many to its doors.

Furthermore, the closure of Wasabi Figtree could have adverse economic impacts on the local community. According to a study by the Small Business Association, small businesses like Wasabi Figtree contribute significantly to the economy by providing jobs and retaining money within the community. Keeping them in Figtree Grove supports the lively, diverse community consumers have come to love.

We must urge the management of Figtree Grove to reconsider any decisions to displace Wasabi Figtree. By allowing them to stay, Figtree Grove not only supports local enterprise but also reinforces its reputation as a community-focused shopping centre.

Please join us in petitioning Figtree Grove's management to allow Wasabi Figtree to continue their operation in the centre. Sign this petition to stand with us in support of a cherished local business that brings so much joy and value to our community. Let's keep the heart of Figtree beating strong—let's keep Wasabi Figtree!
