Allow Vibrant Colors as Part of Workplace

The Issue

I am sweeping forward with this outcry not just as one but representing many who share these shared sentiments. The everyday wear of all black uniforms at our workplace is disheartening at best. The subject of an appropriate design for uniforms has been trivialized, yet it has a significant impact on my mental health and that of numerous others. I have attended two funerals in the span of three weeks recently. The somber association of the color black reminds me of grieving, of loss, of death. Uniforms should not be a constant negative psychological reminder.

For countless other employees like me, there's an undeniable comfort, confidence, and personality that comes with wearing vibrant colors like teal, pink, red, and purple. Nothing quite says individuality as your favorite pencil skirt or high-waisted trouse in effervescent colors. It's a vivid assertion of character, a subtle nod towards personal style and, for many, an antidote to the shadows.

Shockingly, a studies have noted that the color of your clothes can influence mood, with dark colors often leading to gloomy feelings, while brighter colors can uplift your spirit. In a workplace that demands our best, energizing environments must be cultivated, beginning with the immediate outfits we adorn every day.

Let's combat the prevalent stereotypes. It's time we rethink the conventional professional attire and promote a more colorful, more inclusive, and cheerier workplace. Therefore, I humbly request your signature to empower this plea and encourage our employer to rethink the professional attire policy. Let us wear colors at work. Your signature will be a step towards a colorful change.
